IMPORTANT ISSUE FOR ALL FAMILIES
The slogan "Stop the Knock" is an initiative of the Mid Hills Netball Association. It refers to the Police having to knock on a resident's door to inform them of a possible car accident fatality involving a member of their family.
Road crashes are the leading cause of death for people aged less than 25 years of age. This relates to a culture of risk taking. We know the brain matures at mid 20's in regard to judgement and risk management versus emotional responses.
One approach to foster good judgement is a "Road Safety Forum for Young People". Under development is such a road safety forum targeting 16 to 23 year olds in the Adelaide Hills, reaching them through their involvement in Australian Rules and Netball competitions.
Our club will be getting involved in this forum - more details later
