Coach's Corner
ROUND 3 2008

Welcome to our new Website, and congratulations to all involved in getting this up and running, certainly not an easy job and plenty of hours have been used in making this possible! Well done..

On to On field information, well firstly id like to thank our coaches for season 08’, With Jimmy Thredgold having his first go at coaching doing the junior colts, well done mate, and look forward to seeing you go bald or very grey in the next few years. Also Mark Amstberg continuing on with the Senior Colts, hope fully some success will come to all the work that has been put in. At senior level Craig Paschke looks after our very exciting B grade team, while Andrew (stuzza) Stansbury is in charge of the Premiership defence in the C grade competition. Coaching footy is not an easy job, and I’m very proud of the coaches as they have really committed a lot of time and effort into making the club as successful as possible.

After the first 3 rounds, I unfortunately don’t have a lot of exciting information, as the “A” grade are winless in what is probably the hardest season start the club has had for a long time. Not at all panic stations as we are only going to get stronger the longer the year goes, as we unfortunately have hit the season with a few injuries to key players, who will be returning in the next few games. No excuses for our losses though, and we just haven’t had enough guys stepping up and filling the roles required. Loosing round 1 by 1 solitary point at Ironbank was a bit unlucky, but in the other 2 games against both Hahndorf and Mt Lofty we have been outclassed. Was a great thrill to be involved in the Anzac Day clash at Mt Lofty in what can be described as one of the most emotional and special days in our country’s history, but our performance unfortunately was an embarrassment for what the history of the day is about. Some changes will be made this coming week as we look to change the current trend as we play the very much improved Birdwood Football Club at home.

Congratulations to Craig and the boys in the B grade who had there second win in 2 weeks, as they gave the premiers of last year a touch up on Anzac Day. Was a resounding victory and was delightful to see a lot of the clubs young talent play so well. Boys have started the season well, and have really been the backbone of the club so far this year. I’m sure the lads can come to the plate this coming week, and give the boys a win in the “A” grade.

On a sad note we wish Blake Norton all the best as our big Full Forward unfortunately done his ACL in his good knee in round 1 and he goes in for his Knee reconstruction on May 7th. Big Norts’s season being over, it’s such a shame to a guy who has done everything possible to have a massive year, and be struck done so early is just so unfair. Good luck mate and all the best in your recovery..

Anyway till next time, good luck to all, and Carn U Dogs!
