ROUND 5 2008
Coaches Corner…..
Well what a change a week makes in footy, after the poor start to the year and being 0-3 the boys have had 2 excellent wins in the past weeks and things are really moving along nicely.
Round 4 was against Birdwood at home, and we produced one of the best quarters of football for a long time to kick 13 goals to 0 in the 3 qtr to win comfortably. NO injuries was the best thing to come out of the game, and we really did take a lot of confidence out of the game.
We then faced Uraidla away in round 5 and what has been a long loosing streak against a very strong side for the past 6-7 years, the boys really showed a lot of character and determination to lead most of the day and then kick away again late in the last quarter to win a great game of football. Things are getting back to normal now, and with the inclusion of Josh Contin and Nick Smart in the past couple of weeks our midfield has really stepped up to another level and we are playing a lot better brand of footy. David Wescombe has had an awesome couple of weeks to be now leading the League’s goal kickers after 7 then 6 in the past two weeks.
This coming Saturday we venture to Lobethal to play an old archenemy, who is struggling at the moment and we will not be taking the foot off the pedal at all. We really need another big win to get back to 3-3 after 6 weeks.
What an awesome effort by both our Junior Colts and “B” grade, junior colts first, these boys haven’t won a game for nearly 2 seasons, but were really showing signs of improvement early season and to see the young boys win the last 2 games, has been an excellent achievement. Hopefully more to come! The “B's" have been super by winning the last 2 as well, and are high on the premiership ladder, which is an awesome result early in the year. It is a great springboard to an assault on finals. Some great results there boys!
In closing what an awesome night had at the club on Sat night, captain Chris Shee has been working real hard to make the inaugural Ladies Night a success, and wow it was that. The club has not been that full for a long time, and there wasn’t a person there who didn’t have a great time. Great job Sheeba, and well done to all who helped make the night one to remember.
Till next time.
